The dynamics of the mountain range formations inspired me. I came back to Kansas City and started scuplting and carving at the age of 11. | | 1968-1972 | Apprenticeship with Kansas City Sculptor, Adolph Klugman A welder by trade, Adolph made beautiful sculptures in wood, stone, steel, and bronze. This was a part time arrangement, I mostly cleaned his shop and occaisionally helped him on his scupltures. I am grateful for his encouragement that helped set me on this path of art and creativity. | | 1971-1974 | Chuck Crawford's high school art classes Shawnee Mission East High School, Prairie Village, Kansas. Chuck is an amazing artist and teacher. He has inspired thousands of kids in 40 years of teaching. Many of whom are successful artists today. | | 1975-1977 | All Packaging Company, 4220 Broadway, Denver, CO Supervisor of 4-color process printing department. Established platemaking facility, sales, service, in a folding carton manufacturing company. | | 1979 | New York Art Students League, NY, NY Drawing classes taught by Marshal Glaiser and open studio life sculpting classes. | | 1979-1980 | Johnson Atelier, Princeton, NJ (now located in Mercerville) A technical work/study apprenticeship, teaching all aspects of the history and modern, state-of-the-art, lost wax investment (and sand cast) art-bronze casting techniques. Participated in the casting of monumental works of art by the following artists: Georgia O'Keefe, George Segal, Isaac Witkin, Seward Johnson, Andrew Pitynsky, and Nancy Graves.

Included dealing with artist/clients, pricing, ordering materials, mold making, waxes, shell investment, chasing and patination. | | 1985-1986 | Mels' Artspace, 201 Wyandotte, Kansas City, MO Co-developer assisting in architectural planning, demolition and reconstruction of old warehouse into new loft spaces for artists and art related businesses. | | 1987-1991 | Heartland Bronze Art Foundry, Route 4, Box 219, Lawrence KS (contracted labor) Craftsman in all phases of cast bronze production; my specialty was metal chasing. We cast for the great public monument sculptors, Jim Brothers and Tom Corbin. | | 1990-1992 | Heartland All Species Project's Giant puppet plays, Kansas City, MO Designer of Giant Puppets for Earth Day celebration, teaching harmonious lifeways and ecological awareness. | | 1992-1993 | American Museum of Moraccan Art, River Rd & Campbell, Tucson, AZ Curator/Manager/Artist-in-Residence. Promotion and retail sales of Berber Tribal textiles and artifacts. Alf Taylor, owner, Aspen, CO | | 1994 | Artist-in-Residence at Animas Valley Elementary, Durango, CO Multi-dimmensional art program for students, Kathy Deadrick, Principal. Worked with the children to build large paper maché sculptures of animals from San Juan Mountain and high desert habitat. Also implimented art performance in the P.E. classes. | 1994 -1996
| Hermosa Fine Arts Gallery - Hermosa, CO Joint venture with foundry owner Alan Webster (Heartland Art Bronze) Contemporary gallery featuring regional and nationally recognized artists including sculptural ceramics by Don Bendel, pottery by Andy Iventosh, wood vessels by Jerry Wedekind, paintings by Edith Egget, fiber art by Debbie Wycoff.
| | 1998-1999 | Main Avenue Arts Festival I directed and organized 1999's event for the Durango Arts Center. A juried show of 100 artists, food, music, etc. From choosing the jury, promotional materials, coordination with Durango City Officials, street closures, set up, volunteer coordination, etc. Main stage musical headliner was Casper, Reggae from Hopi-land. The annual event is now called the Durango Arts Festival. | | 2002-2003 | Designed and built Lovelight Studio on Hummingbird Lane in Durango. A passive solar design built with a new product called Rastra block.
